H2 fuel supply is critical. Initially H2 supply fuel is localised. Metier’s strategy is to work with selected fuel suppliers that show they can offer prices at near diesel parity by 2028 and then, together, approach fleets with DAF LFs in their local areas.
This will lead to fuel being available from Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRSs) and transport company, depot-based H2 fuelling, both of which can a) survive because they have offtake from any early stage, and b) thrive, because they can supply local transport companies, and possibly heavy duty trucks moving through their area.
The expectation is that this will create enough core H2 refuelling stations around the country to encourage other fleets to start buying H2 trucks.
Fleets want guaranteed supply of H2 fuel and H2 suppliers require guaranteed offtake.
It is this strategy that is attracting a large global automotive company to support Metier, offering Metier £ms in support, as they believe Metier can kickstart H2 for heavy duty transport.
